PENFIELD – Another day of mental, spiritual and physical renewal amid the splendor of autumn foliage courtesy of the Women’s Health Task Force of Clearfield County and Penn State Cooperative Extension is set for Oct. 12 at Camp Mountain Run, Penfield.
Bread baking with participants taking home their own loaves, geocaching, tracking our carbon footprints, music and drumming are some of the topics scheduled for the day, which will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and conclude with dessert and a Chinese Auction at 4 p.m.
Cost is $20, including lunch and handout materials. Pre-registration, which is required, closes Oct. 8. Brochures are available at Penn State Cooperative Extension, Clearfield, or by calling 765-6817 or 765-7878.
“What a glorious, invigorating day it will be! As always, our courses are driven by previous participants’ suggestions. They never fail to come up with fascinating topics to explore,” said event organizer Mary Walker.
The complete schedule of topics and faculty is:
• Whole Grain Bread Baking with Jeanette Stump: this is a two-part session and participants will actually make their own loaves of bread. Class is limited to 16.
• Finding Your Sole Mates with Terry Losch: learn how to properly choose and wear athletic shoes.
• Footprints in the Trees with Gary J. Byron: discuss global warming and the impact we make and how to lessen it.
• Geocaching: Where You are the Search Engine with Keely Tolley and Roxanne Masisak: learn about global positioning systems and go outside to geocache, where technology meets the scavenger hunt.
• Eat Organic and Local (and Have Fun Doing it) with Dr. Lucinda Hart-Gonzalez: learn about organic and local produce, how to spot look-alikes. Includes tasting.
• Creation of Tuff Lace with Rosita Pisarchick. Make the unique Tuff Lace sterling silver necklace and earrings while learning how to use jewelry to look your best.
• Fancy Footwork with Shelley M. Spicher: learn and feel the benefits of stimulating the feet through pressure point massage, or reflexology.
• Pink Ribbons and Red Dresses- What Do They Mean for Women’s Health? With Sandy Stom and Lori Rancik: an information-packed session on breast and heart health.
• The Magic of Music with Virginia Stebbins: learn how music affects and can change our moods.
• Healthy Rhythms with Janie Davis: join mind, body and spirit and release stress while using rhythm instruments from around the world.
