The Clearfield Revitalization Corp., (CRC) is spearheading a park bench project in efforts to offer outdoor seating in downtown Clearfield.
Five brand new park benches were installed outside of the Clearfield County Courthouse, facing East Market Street. These new Victorian park benches are made locally and are custom-designed with black powder coating to match other Victorian architecture in downtown, such as the decorative lights.
Each park bench is sponsored by local businesses or individuals in the community. The first benches are sponsored by Clearfield Bank & Trust Company, State Farm Insurance Agent Rob Bozovich, The Law Offices of Koerber & Cummings LLC and TD Fabricating & Welding in memory of John P. Haley.
“This project has been at least three years in the making. The Design Committee has applied for numerous grants for benches, which were declined. However, when they received funds from the State Farm Community Grant, it brought the project to life. Since then, the project has been able to move forward through local sponsorships,” Main Street Manager Kellie Truman said.
Truman continued, “Thanks to all of our sponsors and the CRC Design Committee for making this project successful. To see the final product of what was once a vision is motivation to continue these enhancement projects in downtown Clearfield.”
The CRC is currently accepting sponsorships, dedications or memorials for more benches. There is a minimum of five benches needed to fulfill an order. The next set of benches will be sponsored by CNB Bank, State Farm Insurance, Sobel & Collins Attorneys at Law, and Grice Gun Shop Inc. Sierra, Dustin & Brenda Grice.
There are two spots left at the courthouse for another bench, in front of your storefront, or in a high traffic area in downtown, such as the Post Office. To contact the CRC, please call 765-6000 or visit DiscoverClearfield.com.
