Verna Sikora, age 88, of West Long Ave. in DuBois, PA, formerly of Punxsutawney, PA died Aug. 15, 2011 at Christ the King Manor.
Born on Jan. 19, 1923 in Big Soldier, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael & Mary (Meholick) Mehok.
She was married to Walter J. Sikora. He preceded her in death in October 1979.Â
She was a homemaker.Â
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Infant of Prague Society. When she lived in Punxsutawney, PA she was a member of St. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons:Â Edward Sikora and his wife, Marlene of DuBois, PA and Joseph Sikora and his wife, Elaine of Punxsutawney, PA, four daughters:Â Veronica Mitchell of Albany, NY, Nancy Selzler and her husband, David of DuBois, PA, Patty Verostic and her husband, Andrew of Pittsburgh, PA and Anna Marie Moore and her husband, Dan of Lake Orion, MI, one brother, Michael Mehok and his wife, Rose of Big Soldier, PA, 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 8 sisters and 1 grandson, Brian Selzler.
Visitation will be held on Aug. 18 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. from the funeral home.Â
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.Â
Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
