CLEARFIELD – Participants of the One World, Many Stories summer reading program have been recording extraordinary reading numbers all summer. Throughout the months of June and July, School Age A, School Age B, and Young Adult members have read a combined 36,923 minutes and Read-to-Me and Adult participants have read a combined 102,512 books. As summer is drawing to a close, these individuals have the chance to turn these great numbers into prizes.
On Aug. 23 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m., Shaw Public Library will host its end of summer event for all participants of the youth summer reading program and their families. This summer, area youth have traveled all over the world through songs, games, activities, and stories. The “Tribute to the Good Ol’ USA” event will return home with a traditional American backyard barbeque. Hotdogs, buns, and condiments will be provided. Those attending are asked to register at the front desk of the library. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share, as well as tableware and drinks for the family. After dinner and games, all summer reading prizes will be drawn for the youth, young adult, and adult summer reading programs.
The online reading logs will remain active until Aug. 12 at 5:00 p.m. Members of the summer reading program still have time to login to their account and record books or minutes read this summer.
The Souvenir Shop will continue to have hours as youth redeem their Passport Stamps and Travelers Checks. The store will be open August 15th through 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., August 19th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and August 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Young adult and adult participants may visit the library any time to fill out their earned entry blanks.
