PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Area 6 Champion Jim’s Sports Center 13 and 14 year old Teener League All-star teamĀ from Clearfield will begin state tournament play Friday at 4:00 p.m. against the Area 2 runner-up Schuykill East. The game will be played at Kuntz Field in Punxsutawney.
Clearfield earned the Area 6 Ā title by virtue of their 5-1 record inĀ a double round-robin tournament with Punxsuatwney, Philipsburg, and Curwensville. As host team, Punxsutawney will also be entered in the state tourney. They will play the Area 2 champion Schuykill West on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Other quarterfinal games in the 8-team double elimination tournament are Area 5 champion Mt. Union versus Area 4 runner-up HollidaysburgĀ at 10:00 a.m. and Area 3 champion East Shore Stammell facing off with Area 4 champion Altoona Reliance Bank at 1:00 p.m.
A first round win would put Clearfield in the winner’s bracket semifinal against the Mt. Union-Hollidaysburg winner at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at Kuntz Field. A loss would put them up against the Mt. Union-Hollidaysburg loser at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in Rossiter.
