John D. Deao, 67, of Ginter died Thursday at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus surrounded by all his family. He was born on Nov. 18, 1943 in Morann and was the son of the late Andrew and Christina (Bungo) Deao.
Mr. Deao was a 1961 graduate of the former Madera High School and served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War.
He was a parishioner of the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey and was a member of the Stephen Kandrach V.F.W. Post 6321, Janesville and the Freeberg American Legion Post 591, Houtzdale.
On May 2, 1994 in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, he married Dianna M. (Miller) Deao, who survives of Ginter.
He’s survived by a daughter, Tracy Ohler and her husband, Michael Ohler Sr. of Ginter; a son, Andrew Shuman of Beccaria; and three grandchildren, Michael Ohler Jr., whom is serving with the U.S. Air Force in Germany and Andrew and Sam Ohler, both of Ginter.
Also surviving are two sisters, Delores Henry of Shadyside, OH and Gloria “Cookie” Wells of Ginter;Â two brothers, Edward Deao of Perry, FLÂ and Dennis “Danny” Deao and his wife, Debbie of San Bernadino, CA; a mother-in-law, Marie Miller of Uniontown; a brother-in-law, George Miller Jr. and his wife, Sue of Uniontown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Deao was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lorraine Pastzor, his father-in-law, George Miller Sr. and a nephew, John C. Wells, II.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc. Ramey. A Panikhida service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A Funeral Parastas will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, with Fr. Anthony Balistreri officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Ramey with military honors conducted by the Houtzdale American Legion Post.Â
