A 29-year-old Bellefonte man was moderately injured and transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center following a single-vehicle accident at approximately 6:42 a.m. Wednesday along state Route 504 near Bush Hollow Road in Union Township, Centre County. Joseph B. Gassner Jr., 29, of Bellefonte was traveling south when he exited the west berm and struck an embankment.
His vehicle then traveled across both lanes of travel and exited the eastern berm and subsequently struck the guiderails along the northbound lane. His vehicle came to a final rest, facing west in the northbound lane. Gassner was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. His 1998 Buick Regal sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
