GRAMPIAN – The Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority celebrated its second year at the county’s tourism promotion agency in August, but the honors went to others as the organization celebrated its second year in the post.
The CCRTA handed out awards to those who fostered growth in tourism in Clearfield County and the Pennsylvania Wilds at the anniversary meeting, held Wednesday at Bilger’s Rocks in Grampian.
Erin Matosziuk received the Got It award for her work with the Hampton Inn.
The Mover and Shaker award was presented to Kenn Starr of Starr Hill Winery. CCRTA Director Sandy Fink Barrett said the award was presented to a man who was continually working to promote events, someone who “never sat down.”
Ray Savel, board member and Quehanna Industrial Development Corp. president, received the outstanding nonprofit or association award. Savel’s group has worked for decades to bring industry to the Quehanna area, and the call was answered with River Hill Power Co. beginning construction on roads for a waste coal power plant. QIDC also developed the 100-Mile Yard Sale.
The business/partner award went to Bruce and Ginny Baggett of the Christpher Krotzer House in Clearfield
The recreation award was persented to Bill Dorman, who puts on the annual hunter safety expo in August in the Expo II building at the Clearfield Driving Park.
Former board member Deb Maki was also presented a certificate for her work prior to her resignation from the board due to career reasons.
