Evelyn I. (Owens) Jay, 91, of Clearfield, passed away on July 2, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Marsha McCracken, of Grampian.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1920 in Clearfield, the daughter of Irwin L. and Alice M. (Morrison) Owens.
Mrs. Jay was a homemaker. She had also been employed with the former Leitzingers and Penn Furniture for several years.
She was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield and the Sarah’s Circle of the church, a past member of the Clearfield Women’s Club and a long time member of the ladies league at Grandview Golf Course.
Mrs. Jay is survived by three children: Patricia A. Rodgers of Clearfield, Robert M. Jay and his wife Donna of Titusville, FL and Marsha E. McCracken and her husband Melvin of Grampian, nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
She was the last member of her generation having been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marshall A. Jay whom she married on Feb. 19, 1938 in Maryland and who passed away on May 10, 1996, three sisters: Winifred Frey, Dorothy McKinney and Arlene Pederson, three brothers: Leo, Donald and Harold Owens and an infant brother, Halford Owens.
At the request of Mrs. Jay there will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols Street, Clearfield, PA 16830 or Faith Bible Church, Missions Fund, 398 Grandview Road, Curwensville, PA 16833.
