DUBOIS – The kiosk in the parking lot at the corner of West Long Avenue and North Brady Street in DuBois saw the first series of inscribed bricks added. These are the first 67 bricks, but according to Karen Vanderhoff of Downtown DuBois there are already fifteen to 20 in line for the set of additions this fall.
“This project really started off with the idea to put a downtown kiosk for the community,” said Vanderhoff.
This first group only makes up 13 percent of the currently planned space for the engraved bricks. Engravings were the names of businesses, groups, in memory of individuals and creative.
Each brick costs $75 and assists the Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group.
“We’re hoping to get $10,000 from this project’s end,” said Vanderhoff after the event.
The DDRG is nearing the end of its government funded lifespan, and is planning through this project and other projects in the pipeline the group can become self-sustainable.
