CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man accused of striking a female police officer waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Ryan S. Albert faces two counts of aggravated assault, one count of simple assault and one count of harassment.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 5 at 12:10 p.m., Lawrence Township Police Officer Crystal Panabianco responded to an emergency at the Clearfield Hospital emergency room to assist with an uncooperative patient. Albert was the patient, and had been transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment of a self-inflicted wound.
Panabianco was attempting to help restrain Albert when he began kicking with his legs. Panabianco grabbed his legs to hold him down. While she was doing this, Albert allegedly punched her in the face with his right hand, which was in a cast up to his elbow.
Tpr. Terry Jordan with the state police, Clearfield barracks, interviewed Panabiano shorly thereafter. She related what was described above.
Jordan noted that he noticed Panabianco had a large bump above her left ey that was beginning to bruise. She also had a small cut on the bridge of her nose, which appeared off-center.
Jordan also noted that he was unable to interview Albert due to the defandant being sedated. He did observe a black cast on Albert’s right hand.
