CURWENSVILLE – New information has been learned concerning fatalities in a Curwensville fire that occurred Sunday morning.
The fire destroyed a Filbert Street home. Originally, Travis Goodman,fire chief of Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder could not release details but stated that there were fatalities.
The coronor’s office estimated that victims of the fire were of a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old.
Ed and Margaret McCulley, neighbors, heard the fire. Ed said , “Margaret heard a pop at 9:15am and fire was coming out of the living room window and a window at the side (of the house).”
McCulley credits neighbor Mike Komonzi for saving two lives. Komonzi used his ladder and rescued an adult and one child.
Only one neighboring structure suffered damage. Several windows were lost and they sustained water damage during the fight to stop the blaze.
The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
