CLEARFIELD – A man accused of attempting to rob two convencience stores waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Charles Snyder Jr. faces four counts of robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal attempt to commit robbery.
According to court records, on June 1 around 4:40 a.m., Snyder, wearing a mask, reportedly entered Snappy’s in Houtzdale, holding a knife, and demanded money from the clerk, and threatened to stab him. The clerk, who had a utility knife, told Snyder he would stab him. Snyder then fled the scene.
Later in the morning, Snyder allegedly went into Fuel On and demanded money while brandishing a knife. The clerk gave him $150.
Police looked at video footage and saw Snyder without his mask. A clerk recognized him as a regular at the store. Police followed leads and eventually contacted him by phone. They were scheduled to meet with him at Snappy’s, but they met him at his residence when he showed up there. While they spoke with him at his residence they noticed the clothes and knife in plain view.
In an interview with law enforcement Snyder admitted to the acts he was accused of.
