CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors awarded bids for road patching to New Enterprise and HEI-Way, LLC.
The bidding requested pricing for two different types of road patching product for a total amount of 100 tons. One product was for 485 stockpile material, or more traditional patching material. The other product was for high performance asphalt patching. The supervisors had wanted to see if the high performance material’s cost was low enough to justify paying for a costlier patching material, but one that needed replace less often.
New Enterprise had the lowest bid for the regular patching material at $7,945 for 100 tons. HEI-Way had the most expensive bid for that style of patching, but beat the only other bidder for the high performance patching by $2.6 thousand for a bid of $10,190 for 100 tons.
The supervisors decided to go with 50 tons of each product. For patches that are expected to need torn up relatively soon or to wear out quickly the regular patching material will be used. For patchwork that is expected to last longer the high performance latex based patching material will be used.
The bid for piping was also awarded to the lowest bidder, Walsh Equipment, at $7,422.
