PHILIPSBURG – A 79-year-old Philipsburg man whom was found dead after an early morning fire Friday at his Sleepy Hollow Road residence appears to have committed suicide, the Philipsburg-based state police reported.
According to the report, the state police responded to the scene, and the man’s body was discovered inside by fire personnel. There was a gunshot wound to his head, police said.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the victim deliberately set the fire before committing suicide. The investigation is continuing at this time pending the autopsy.
