The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, of Clearfield and Curwensville, is pleased to announce that Brockton A. Shaffer is now a partner and co-owner of the business, joining Kevin A. Beardsley who has owned the funeral homes since 1991.
Shaffer has been with the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home since September 2007 when he began his resident internship under the tutelage of Mr. Beardsley. In 2008, Shaffer earned his required licensure and was promoted to funeral director with the business and in 2009, he was named Supervisor of the Curwensville funeral home.
Along withBeardsley, who will continue to manage the business, Shaffer will assist with the day to day operations. He will remain as supervisor in Curwensville and is excited to carry on the locally owned traditions of the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home.
“Brock is not only a tremendous asset to the funeral home but also to our community. His professionalism, dedication and passion is exhibited while serving families as well as in his involvement in the organizations in which he has become a member”, stated Beardsley.
A native of Meadville, Shaffer is a 2002 graduate of Meadville Area High School. He also is a 2006 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in music education. Shaffer later graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2007 as valedictorian, having received the Funeral Service Foundation Scholarship and the Allegheny County Funeral Director Scholarship. He was also elected to the Mu Sigma Alpha Fraternal Society by the National Association of Colleges of Mortuary Science in recognition of outstanding Academic Proficiency.
Before moving to the Clearfield area, Shaffer was employed with the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home in Meadville and Winter Funeral Home in Pittsburgh.

Shaffer is currently serving as president of the Clearfield Kiwanis Club and is a member of the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation promotions committee. He is also the treasurer of the Curwensville Merchants Association.
In the past few years, Shaffer has been able to assist in seminars throughout the United States and recently returned from London where he assisted the members of the British Embalmers Institute on the United States practices in funeral directing. Recently, Brock was inducted into the British Society of Embalmers and also serves as a member of the American Embalmers Society.
He is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association as well as the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and the Clearfield/Jefferson County Funeral Director Association.
Shaffer enjoys golfing and is a member of the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club. He attends The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield where he sings in the choir and enjoys being involved in the music ministry.
