John A. Carter, age 91, of Osceola Mills passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born April 10, 1910, he was the son of the late William and Rachael Carter.
He was an Army Veteran of W.W. II and retired from Pratt and Whitney, Meridan, CT.
He was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Carter is survived by eight daughters, Alexis J. McCracken of Madera, Rosemary Lansberry of Osceola Mills, Rita Raymond and her husband Henry of Maine, Vanessa Warner of Massachusetts, Joyce Dixon and her husband Charles of Dixon, NJ, Judy Savedra of Massachusetts, and Helen Herbert of Munson; three sons, John Carter II and his wife Sue of Madera, Gregory Allen of Tioga, Bryan Carter of Houtzdale; forty grandchildren; forty-eight greatgrandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Madeline Carter, a daughter, Joan Lee Litzinger; a son, David William Carter; two sisters, Betty Schultz and Violet Braid and two brothers, Thomas and David Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills with the Pastor Donald J. Smith officiating.
Friends will be received on Monday at 10 a.m. until the hour of services.
