HERSHEY — The PIAA wrestling tournament ended on Saturday night with the AAA finals.
District 9 ended the three-day tourney with a total of five medals, two in AAA and three in AA.
Bradford’s Mark Havers (38-3) earned the highest finish when he earned a silver medal at 152 pounds in AAA. Havers was beaten in the finals by freshman Chance Marsteller of Kennard-Dale 9-4. Known as the “farmboy phenom”, Marsteller ended his rookie campaign 42-0. It was Havers’ second runner-up finish.
DuBois’ Geno Morelli (36-8) was the only D9er to end the season with a win when he won the fifth place bout at 152 8-4 over Pottsgrove’s Thomas Demetrio.
The WPIAL’s Canon-McMillan won the AAA team title by a score of 92-79 over runner-up Pittsburgh Central Catholic, another WPIAL school.
In AA action, Brookville’s Jacob Shields at 189 and Brockway’s Joel Yahner at 285 placed fourth. At 119, Corey Bush of Ridgway placed eighth.
Burrell edged Reynolds by a point and a half to claim the AA team title, 85-83.5.
