J. Arthur Minds, 85, of Ramey, passed away at 9:42 p.m., Feb. 2, 2011 at the Clearfield Hospital.
He was born in Gulich Twp. on May 23, 1925 a son of the late James H. and Grace (Abernathy) Minds. He graduated from the Madera High School in 1943 and was a member of the Ramey United Methodist Church.
As a young man, Mr. Minds was a dairy farmer and he then became the owner – operator of Art Minds Coal Co., Inc. until his retirement.
He was a charter member of the Beulah Cemetery Association and a past Ramey Borough Councilmember.
On May 21, 1949 in the United Brethren Church, Bellwood he married Ruth Elizabeth “Betty” Sklar Minds who survives of Ramey.
Mr. Minds is survived by a son and daughter; Arthur James Minds of Pasadena, CA and Carol J. Pataky and her husband Randy of Clearfield.
He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; Kevin Pataky of Charleston, WV, Bradley Pataky of Sate College and Brittany Pataky of Lock Haven.
Mr. Minds is survived by two sister-in-laws and a brother-in-law; Leanora Dobish of Beccaria, Marie Fuoss and her husband Richard of Tyrone and Steven James Sklar and his wife Bonnie of Navarre, FL. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Addition to his parents, Mr. Minds was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond A. Minds.
Friends will be received at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Ramey on Feb. 5 from 6-8 p.m., Feb. 6 from 1-4 p.m. and on Feb. 7 from 9-11 a.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Feb. 7, at 11:00 a.m. in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc., Ramey with Pastor Dennis L. McCracken officiating. Interment will follow in the Beulah Cemetery Ramey.
