DUBOIS – DuBois City Council met before a full audience Monday night.
Council approved and awarded the Third Ward Fire Hall Rehabilitation Driveway contract to W. W. Gildersleeve & Sons from DuBois the project. Their bid was the lowest in the amount of $79, 775.00.
Council also approved a request from Lance Marshall, Redevelopment Authority director, that the Third Ward Fire Hall Rehabilitation Driveway project be eliminated as a CDBG-R project. Instead it will be a CDBG project.
Sam Miles was appointed to the Watershed Committee. This position is for an unspecified term.
John “Herm” Suplizio, DuBois City manager, requested, and was approved by council, to enter into contract with CFI Associates for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. The grant is for $180,000 and will be completed by Hallstrom Construction, Inc. of DuBois.
Suplizio said, “The nice thing about this grant is that it will be done by a local contractor, which will be Hallstroms.”
The city was one of 15 out of 1,500 that applied to be awarded the grant. The grant will be used to make the lighting in the walkways in the park and downtown more energy efficient.
Representatives from Marcellus Shale will be at the next work session, which will be held on Jan. 21 at 4:00 p.m. There will also be CDBG public hearings held on Jan. 25 and Feb. 22 at 6:45 p.m. at the city building.
