Bison Wrestlers Place Six in Tool City Semis, Second in Team Race

MEADVILLE — The Clearfield Bison wrestling team had a very successful first day at the 32nd Annual Tool City tournament at Meadville High School on Friday afternoon and evening.

Clearfield, fifth place in 201o, sits one half point behind tourney leader Erie Cathedral Prep 76.5 to 76 in the team race.

The Bisons have six wrestlers competing in Saturday morning’s semifinals at 8:30 a.m.  Top seeds Shane Peters at 103, Christian Stone at 112, Derek Danver at 171, and Cliff Hill at 215 are joined by third seeded Nolan Barger at 130 and fourth seeded Dylan Graham at 119.

Peters and Stone remain undefeated on the young season. Both placed third at last year’s Tool City tourney, as did Derek Danver. Barger and Hill will look to improve upon their fourth place finishes from last year as well.

Senior Derek Danver (9-1) now has 99 wins in his Bison career and will face McGuffey sophomore Brent Blacharczyk (6-0) in search of career win number 100.

Five Bison wrestlers are still alive in the consolation bracket. They are Frankie Aveni at 125, Troy Danver at 135, Cody Lansberry at 140, Andrew Hill at 145, and Shane Harper at 152.
