DUBOIS – DuBois City Council announced at Monday night’s meeting that Henry Guthrie will not be taking a position on City Council and that the seat is now open. Guthrie is officially resigning his spot on the council.
In a letter to Mayor John “Herm” Suplizio, Guthrie stated “a change in employment, more pronounced familial concerns, and the likelihood of my having to spend more time at work or having to secure an additional position by the beginning of the year,” as his reason to give up the seat. He also said, “the City of DuBois would be poorly served by having an absentee Councilman.”
Council asks anyone who is interested to submit a cover letter and resume, attn: mayor and city council, to the city council building no later than 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 21. Council will interview on or before Dec. 23. They will then vote on this person at a regular council meeting held on Dec. 28.
Guthrie was elected to council in the November election. The term of this position will be a two year term, being held in 2010 and 2011 when the next municipal election takes place.
