CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Area United Way recently delivered over 200 books as part of its Reading Ripples project for children at the Clearfield County Housing Authority property.
This delivery was done as part of a summer reading initiative and also marks over 7,500 books distributed through the program, according to a press release issued by the agency.
“We can all remember our favorite childhood books and the way it could fire your imagination,” expressed CAUW Board Member Brenda Terry.
“Reading aloud is the single, most important thing you can do to help prepare a child for reading and learning.
“And [our program] is just one more way to get books into the hands of children to inspire a love of reading.”
Gently-used books are collected for “Reading Ripples,” then coordinated, processed and distributed by volunteers. The project is always collecting gently-used children’s books.
CAUW works closely with over 60 volunteers and 23 member agencies, which touch lives from infants to elderly throughout eastern, southern and central Clearfield County.
Any group or individual wishing to host a collection is encouraged to contact CAUW and its volunteers are “more than happy” to deliver them to local children’s groups.
