CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County SPCA launched its latest fundraiser, the “Tugs at My Heart” campaign on Black Friday, selling handmade pet toys, called tugs, exclusively at Waggin’ Trains pet supply store, 1226 South Second Street in Clearfield.
Tugs are hand woven from 100 percent polyester fleece and come in a large variety of colors and color combinations, according to project organizers Beth Hallstrom and Shari Trythall. They are machine washable and dryable and very durable, as long as they are used for supervised play, they said.
“We made small, medium and large tugs and within each size is a variety of lengths and circumferences to suit any pet. While we think dogs will make up the bulk of our customers, the toys are perfect for cats and any other pet who likes to play tug. We even sold one for use by a bird,” Hallstrom said.
Tugs sell for $6 for small ones, $9 for medium ones and $12 for larges. Current stock includes Penn State, Steelers and Eagles designs as well as area high school colors. Custom sizes and colors are available for an extra charge of $5 per tug ordered.
“Tugs are a perfect holiday gift or stocking stuffer for your pets and the perfect way to help support the SPCA,” Trythall added.
All proceeds will go toward SPCA operating expenses and programs. For more information, or to order a custom tug, call Waggin’ Trains at 765-0123.
