CLEARFIELD – A troubled bridge in Clearfield County will soon be getting some help.
In October the Clearfield County Commissioners revealed that the Peale Bridge in Cooper Township was in disrepair. They said they had two choices: fix it or close it.
After speaking with Cooper Township officials and landowners on the other side of the bridge the commissioners decided to fix the bridge. The commissioners said recently that the Cooper Township Supervisors have offered in-kind services in the effort to repair the bridge.
On Tuesday the Clearfield County Commissioners voted to bid out the first phase of repair work on the Peale Bridge. The work will consist of drainage, catch basins and riprap. This work is estimated to cost between $25,000 and $30,000. As part of their motion the commissioners approved spending no more than $30,000 on the first phase.
A second phase will consist of guiderail work.
