CLEARFIELD – A potential by-law change was discussed at Thursday evening’s Clearfield Borough Council committee meeting.
The potential by-law change pertained to meeting participation from Clearfield Borough council members.
According to Borough solicitor F. Cortez
“Chip” Bell III, the by-law provision states that if a council member misses three consecutive meetings then he or she can be removed from the council, but due to case law in Pennsylvania, a county official cannot be removed unless he or she is removed by the governor of the state.
Since there was no quorum, the amendment to the by-law will be discussed further at next week’s borough meeting.
Clearfield Regional Police Chief Vincent McGinnis introduced Officer Dominic Lamb to council. Lamb has recently joined the Clearfield Regional Police Department.
McGinnis also reported that there were 676 incidents for the month of September, ranging from but not limited to accidents, drug arrests, DUIs, assisting other agencies, traffic stops and court.
Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department reported that there were 20 calls for the month of September and 88 hours of training.
There will be two firefighters taking their Fire 1 test this month and the department as well as Steve Livergood wish them good luck.
There was a recommendation to approve the closure of a portion of Leavy Street for Clearfield American Legion Post 6’s annual Veteran’s Day service, which will be further discussed at next week’s borough meeting.
As a reminder, Trick-or-Treat will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Residents wanting to participate are encouraged to leave their porch lights on.
Snow removal proposals were opened and street material bids will be opened at next week’s meeting.
