CLEARFIELD – The planned expansion of a local hotel has a few more hurdles to overcome before work gets under way.
The topic was brought up at Tuesday night’s Lawrence Township Planning Commission meeting. Code Enforcement Officer Zach Lawhead said that initially the plans for the expansion had a lot of comments that needed to be addressed. He said they’re only down to a few items before the plans are up for consideration of acceptance.
Lawhead said after the meeting that Super 8’s people needed to address stormwater calculation issues and that they had a design change. He said the initial design encroached on a wetland, which required DEP approval. He said that because the project is ready to begin and the time it would take for the DEP approval, the developers decided to change the design of the expansion.
The project is for a 32-room expansion to the Super 8 along state Route 879 near Interstate 80.
