Robert D. Martin, 83, of Clearfield and formerly of Ginter, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Dec. 1, 2010 at Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1927 in Brisbin, a son of the late George and Mabel (Ream) Martin.

Bob served in the Merchant Marines in WW II and was a past member of the American Legion Freeberg Post 591, Houtzdale.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the former Puttmen & Green and C.E. Powell Coal Companies.

On Sept. 3, 1948 in Elton, MD, he married Rae Jean Bloom Martin, she preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 1992.

Bob is survived by two sons; Darryl R. “Tuck” Martin and his wife Cheryl and Robert R. “Randy” Martin and his wife Sue all of Clearfield. A grandson, Garth Martin of Clearfield also survives.

Bob is survived by three brothers, Millard W. Martin of Niles, OH; Leonard C. Martin and his wife Carol of Houtzdale; Kenneth C. Martin of Madera; and Carol F. Bratton and her husband Harold “Dewey” of Houtzdale. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Along with his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by four brothers; Walter G. Gerald B, Larry G. and Norman R. Martin and a sister, Geraldine I. Shedlock.

Friends will be received on Dec. 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9-11 a.m. at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Madera.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc., Madera, with Rev. Thomas A. McCoy officiating.
