HARRISBURG – A former Clearfield Borough Police Officer helped save the life of a distressed motorist last week.
According to Susquehanna Township Police Department Chief Robert A. Martin, on Nov. 24 at 4:40 a.m., Officer Justin Doyle stopped a vehicle for driving erratically in the 3900 block of North Front Street. Upon requesting the driver’s license and registration, the 68-year-old driver exited his vehicle, and shortly thereafter suffered a massive heart attack.
Doyle immediately started CPR, and upon arrival he was assisted by former Patrol Officer First Class Ryan Lindsley. They both also utilized the “AED” Units carried in their trunks which provided three shocks to the driver. The driver was revived and transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery. The driver is still hospitalized as of this press release.
“This was a life saving event, and the officers are to be commended,” said Martin.
Lindsley formerly served on the CBPD and has been with the STPD for a little over eight years.
