CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Fire Chief Andrew Smith thanked residents for help keeping the fire hydrants near them clear during the brief snow event that hit the area Jan. 16-17.
The fire department would also like to remind residents that when using a space heater to please leave space for that space heater, as well as make sure it’s clear of curtains, clothes or anything that might create a fire hazard.
Police Chief Vincent McGinnis would like to remind residents to slow down during the wintertime. Roads can be icy even though they don’t appear icy.
He said residents are also encouraged to please slow down when traveling through school zones and to please be aware of school buses picking up and dropping off children.
Residents are encouraged to make sure that their respective sidewalks are clear of snow. The Code Enforcement Department reported that there were 17 properties that had not kept their sidewalks clear.
Clearfield Borough is now on Facebook. So far, the page has garnered 200 or more likes. The idea of the Facebook page is to keep the community informed of events in the borough and to use the page in a positive manner.
Residents are reminded that if there is an issue to please call the administrative office of the borough.
The borough has requested a study on Nichols Street and Turnpike Avenue traffic lights as well as the Third and Cherry Street traffic lights for removal. The borough is encouraging and accepting public comments.
Council approved to permit Hyde Wesleyan Church to use Lower Whitmer Park for Family Fun Day on June 5, 2022 and close Locust Street from Front Street to Water Street for the event.
Mayor Mason Strouse would like to thank residents for their due diligence during Clearfield’s first snow event this year. Strouse would also like residents to know that he will be performing wedding ceremonies as his schedule allows. The fee will be $125. There will be a form on the borough Web site.
