DUBOIS – Initial work to start the consolidation of DuBois City and Sandy Township got under way this week.
The board of supervisors and city council held a joint meeting in city chambers Wednesday, Jan. 12.
It was held to prepare for future joint meetings and nine-member consolidation meetings to oversee the consolidation process.
Ed Clark, general manager of the Treasure Lake Property Owners Association, was also present as a member of the public.
All 10 elected officials as well as the manager for each municipality were in attendance.
Township Chairman Bill Beers and DuBois Mayor Ed Walsh were selected as the co-chairmen of the joint consolidation committee.
The joint municipal meetings were scheduled for the first and third Mondays of each month at 6 p.m., as needed.
The DuBois-Sandy Consolidation Committee set its first meeting for 12 p.m. Jan. 26 at the DuBois City Municipal Building.
The nine-person committee is comprised of the following individuals:
- Edward Walsh
- Kevin Salandra
- Chris Nasuti
- Kris Kruzelak
- John “Herm” Suplizio
- Shawn Arbaugh
- Joe Mitchell
- Daniel Kholhepp
- Richard Whitaker
It was noted that more people had expressed interest than the nine individuals that were ultimately selected.
Those who weren’t selected will be considered for sub-committees that will be formed as the consolidation process progresses.
