RUSH TOWNSHIP – A Grassflat resident suffered severe injuries after an accident on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
According to state police in Philipsburg, the 42-year-old Rusty Coble of Grassflat was traveling west on state Route 504 in Rush Township, Centre County, when he drifted across the east bound lane and then 85 feet headlong into a tree. It is stated in the report that it is believed he had fallen a sleep while in the middle of curve on the road.
Coble was removed from the vehicle and taken to Mountain Nittany Medical Center, but was soon after transported again to the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for further treatment of the severe injuries.
When the driver was removed from the vehicle it was found he was not wearing his seat belt.
The investigation is ongoing.
