DUBOIS – Michael D. Myers of DuBois is facing charges following a high-speed pursuit with DuBois-based state police that ended in a crash Friday morning.
At 11:33 a.m., Trooper Seth Gould observed a gold-colored GMC Envoy pulling a U-Haul trailer in the area of mile-marker 102 west on Interstate 80.
It was reportedly traveling towards DuBois at 78 miles per hour in a posted 70-mph zone. The trooper observed other equipment violations, as well.
Gould pulled out from the crossover in attempt to initiate a traffic stop. However, the driver, later identified as Myers, fled at a high rate off exit 101.
He proceeded through a steady red signal at the end of the exit ramp, turning right onto state Route 255 and continuing south towards DuBois.
Gould activated his lights and siren as the vehicle swerved through north- and south-bound traffic. It continued to flee on Midway Drive through the Lowe’s parking lot and back to SR 255.
When the driver turned right, the vehicle hit the curb and lost the trailer. The pursuit continued, however. The vehicle swerved through traffic until reaching the Industrial Drive intersection.
There, state police say it entered the northbound lane, striking a minivan occupied by two adults and three children.
The driver lost control of his vehicle, which slid backwards up over the curb. He was taken into custody and identified as Myers.
No injuries were reported.
