CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners addressed a number of miscellaneous items of business during Tuesday’s board meeting.
The commissioners:
- announced the county is requesting proposals for medical services at the Clearfield County Jail.
- amended its agreement with GTL for inmate phone/technology services at the jail. Commissioner Dave Glass said the upgrade will be at no cost to the county, and rewards well-behaved inmates with limited and monitored access to tablet devices through the commissary. He said “idle hands” aren’t a good thing in any jail facility and the warden is 100 percent supportive of the service upgrade.
- approved the county’s local match to the Area Transportation Authority, totaling $168,849.
- approved an agreement with Zelenkofske Axelrod LLC for external audit services. The motion passed 2-1 with Glass casting the lone opposing vote. Glass said he felt the county should have conducted a request for proposals. However, Commissioner Tony Scotto said that the firm’s bid was still lower the original second-place bid from approximately three years ago.
- approved the appointment of Glass to the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission board. Commissioner John A. Sobel will serve as the alternate.
- approved the appointment of Scotto to the county’s Conservation District board.
- approved purchase of service agreements with Bethany Christian Services and White Deer Run for the county’s Children, Youth and Family Services Department.
- approved one employee separation/retirement; one employee transfer; and one employee leave of absence.
- approved the minutes of the Nov. 10 meeting as presented by the chief clerk.
- approved the bills as presented by the Controller’s office.
