CURWENSVILLE – Vacant properties were a topic of discussion at Monday night’s Curwensville Borough Council meeting.
Council said the borough currently has four properties that are “beyond repair” and that need to be torn down. It was noted that of those, there was a potential buyer for the vacant property on George Street.
Council approved to send notices to all property owners, giving them 90 days to address the property issues. If the George Street property doesn’t sell, the current owner will receive the same notice.
Council also reported that demolition work along Thompson Street was almost cleared out, and the project is on schedule to be completed in March.
In other business:
- Council voted to approve a resolution to apply for a grant through the Municipal Assistance Plan.
- Police reported 51 incidents since last month’s meeting with 16 traffic stops resulting in two citations. In addition, there were two crashes, one criminal arrest and four incidents the borough was requested to assist on.
- Animal control reported 33 calls over the last month with two written warnings.
- The fire department reported having 176 calls, as well as having pumps on all engines passing inspection. It will also hold a fundraiser event in conjunction with Scotto’s Pizzeria of Clearfield with fire personnel delivering food with a portion of sales being donated to the department.
