WESTOVER – The 2020 Harmony Grange Fair has been cancelled because of health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision was announced Thursday by members of the Harmony Grange No. 1201 and the Harmony Grange Fair Association on the fair’s official Facebook page.
“With the ever-changing and uncertain times that we’re in, [we] have made the di?cult decision to cancel the 2020 Harmony Grange Fair.”
“Our ancestors formed our grange in 1901 and our parents started the fair in 1952. Our commitment is long-standing for our community.”
The decision was based upon information from the State Grange, Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other state and federal agencies.
“We can’t operate safely under the guidelines,” the announcement said. “The health and safety of our volunteers, exhibitors, vendors, visitors and entire community are our top priority.”
Grange members had long hoped to have a 2020 fair, but joined the 98 of 108 fairs to cancel across Pennsylvania. This year’s fair theme would have been: “Making Memories One Fair at a Time.”
“By cancelling, we guarantee to be around for future years, and you’ll be able to make many more memories at our future fairs.”
Next year’s Harmony Grange Fair is scheduled for Sept. 21-25, 2021. For more information, visit: http://www.harmonygrangefair.org/.
