TIPTON- DelGrosso’s Amusement Park & Laguna Splash Water Park in Tipton will not open for the 2020 summer season due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcement was made on Friday afternoon with “deep regret” by the park’s management on its official Facebook page and Web site.
“Many factors played a role in this difficult decision,” the announcement stated. “… The safety of our employees and guests is our number one priority, as it has been for 73 years.”
Management noted uncertainty surrounded when large attractions, such as DelGrosso’s Park, would be permitted to reopen, and that also played a “significant” part in the decision.
The announcement continued: “This delay would only be compounded by social distancing protocols, capacity restrictions and supply chain interruptions.
“All these obstacles would make creating a fun, safe and memorable guest experience, like we have done for decades, very difficult.”
According to the announcement, season passes (and BOGO food vouchers) will automatically be transferred to the 2021 season. Individuals do not need to contact the park if they prefer this option.
Guests will bring their 2020 season pass voucher (or 2020 ID card if they have it) and their BOGO food vouchers when they make their first visit to the park office in 2021.
Those who transfer their passes will also receive a complimentary $25 food credit. This will be electronically deposited on to season pass ID cards.
Any guests who would like a refund for their 2020 season passes must complete the refund form, which can be found on the park’s official Web site.
Refunds will be issued to the owner of the season pass, and the original purchaser is the owner of the season pass while it is in voucher form (paper vouchers).
However, once the voucher has been redeemed for the season pass ID card (plastic card), that individual becomes the owner of the pass.
According to the announcement, refunds will be credited back to the credit card used for the season pass purchase. Checks will be issued for cash payments.
Once the form is received, an office staff member will contact individuals to collect the information required to issue a refund. Individuals are asked to be patient, as staffing is limited.
Any all-day fun passes, purchased for the 2020 season, will be honored in 2021. This includes any passes purchased at charity events or through a third-party.
So far as any Cabana, pavilion or other picnic rentals, a DelGrosso’s Park staff member will contact any individuals with scheduled rentals.
“As we’re still in the yellow phase for reopening, we have limited the number of on-site employees,” the announcement stated, directing questions to parkinfo@delgrossos.com.
“Your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time in our history is appreciated more than words can say … [and] we look forward to returning … in the summer of 2021.”
Park management encouraged individuals to follow its Web site and social media for updates. Meal programs, such as DG2GO, will be extended through the summer; more details are forthcoming.
