CLEARFIELD – A local business is reaching out to help the community.
On Thursday, the staff at Amon, Shimmel and Walsh Realtors will be providing lunches for 150 children and adults.
Those wishing to participate are asked to enter the Clearfield County Fairgrounds from the Nichols Street entrance.
“One of our realtors, Khris Brewer, thought of the idea with people out of work in the area,” Joan Shimmel said via e-mail. “We all decided it was a good idea and decided to move forward with it.”
Shimmel said seven realtors from the office are contributing. She said all the food items are being provided by the office.
Shimmel said the staff saw the need when they witnessed how fast the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)-distributed meals went.
Shimmel said the lunches will include a small main lunch item, fruit, chips and a drink for both children and adults.
“We’re hopeful that this small effort will help some people enjoy a small lunch and not go hungry,” Shimmel said.
The event will begin at 12 p.m., in front of the Expo I Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. All staff will be wearing masks and gloves as well as implementing social distancing practices.
