CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Area School board voted on several items of regular business at Monday’s regular voting meeting.
Last week, the board discussed submitting bond refinancing paperwork for PlanCon K, which is required whenever a district refinances original funds during a building project. During the regular voting meeting, the board voted to accept PlanCon K as prepared by The PFM Group.
Other items approved under new business included the memorandum of understanding between the district and Clearfield County Children & Youth Services, a revision of the student wellness policy and the 2021 school calendar.
It was noted that kindergarten registration has begun and if there are any parents or guardians uncomfortable with registering their children via the Internet, they can contact the elementary school to set up an appointment.
Superintendent Terry Struble noted that there is a bill in the General Assembly in regards to online charter schools that has been discussed in committee a few times but hasn’t gone any further.
He said the bill would require all school districts to have cyber school available for students and as a result private cyber charter schools would be eliminated.
Struble said such a subject always creates conversation and that, in turn, influences whether the bill would pass or not. He said it was something to keep an eye on and think about.
