LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – Charges are currently pending against a 48-year-old Falls Creek man following a fleeing and eluding incident Sunday in Lawrence Township.
Police say a traffic was attempted along Washington Avenue due to the man having an expired registration. However, he failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
He reportedly proceeded to turn onto Graham Street and then onto Robinson Avenue where he was forced to turn around in a parking lot at a dead end.
Police say the man traveled through the intersection of Robinson Avenue and Graham Street and another dead end. He also traveled through yards and around houses to reenter Graham Street.
He ultimately attempted to turn onto Susquehanna Avenue; however, police say his vehicle slid off the roadway and struck a street sign and post.
At this point, the man exited his vehicle yelling that he had been “set up,” according to police. He allegedly ignored the officers’ commands and assaulted his girlfriend, his front-seat passenger.
Police were able to restrain the man and take him into custody; he was taken to Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for a legal blood draw, then to await arraignment at Clearfield County Jail.
Charges are currently pending against the man for fleeing and eluding police, resisting arrest, simple assault, DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
