SPRING MILLS – It wasn’t a very pleasant road trip for the Clearfield Area High School girls basketball team on Wednesday as it faced Penns Valley and were soundly defeated 55-20 in Mountain League play.
An first half offensive drought found the Lady Bison down after one quarter 22-3 and 40-3 at the half as Clearfield was shutout in the second eight minutes.
The Lady Bison did win the second half by a score of 17-15 but the damage inflicted in the first 16 minutes was obviously way too much to overcome.
Emma Hipps had eight points for Clearfield, while the Lady Rams had two girls in double digits. Hannah Montminy had 17 and Kennedy Welshans scored 11.
The win leaves Penns Valley with a 4-5 record, while the Lady Bison fell to 2-8 on the 2019-20 season and 1-4 in the Mountain League.
In the JV game it was Penns Valley stopping Clearfield by a score of 36-18.
Next up for the Lady Bison is home Mountain League tilt with Central Friday night.
