CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Police Department would like to thank a JC Penny’s employee and customer for their aid in identifying a purse thief.
A woman had left her purse on a seat in the JC Penny saloon at the Clearfield Mall as she was heading to restroom. A man saw the purse and took off with it. This was witnessed by a customer and employee who then began chasing the purse thief.
The thief eventually dropped the purse before attempting to get away in his vehicle. The customer and employee were able to get a de scri ption of the thief and the registration number to the car. Because of this the police were able to figure out his identity.
Charges are now pending in this case.
