Lawrence Township
- Police reported a black Cricket ZTE cell phone and a black and gray head lamp were found Thursday along the Clearfield-Woodland Highway in Clearfield. The rightful owner can contact the Lawrence Township police station.
- Police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in two warrant services and a drug violation Thursday at Sheetz along state Route 879 in Clearfield. According to police, five individuals were inside the vehicle, and two – a 21-year-old Winburne man and 43-year-old Amy Smeal of Clearfield – initially provided false names and dates of birth; both were positively identified through further investigation. The driver, 60-year-old Gregory Smeal of Osceola Mills and Amy Smeal, were taken into custody on active warrants through the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Department. When Amy Smeal was being taken into custody, she was reportedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were housed in county jail and charges are currently pending for the incident.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle Wednesday in the 100 block of East Scribner Avenue. Upon arrival, police were unable to locate the described vehicle.
- Police were requested to check the welfare of a female Wednesday on Chestnut Avenue. Upon arrival, contact was made and she was found to be OK.
- Police received a report about a suspicious male on South Jared Street. According to police, he was outside of a closed business, then walked to a nearby home. Contact was made with the male and it was reportedly found that he’d been soliciting without the necessary permit. He was informed that he couldn’t solicit within the city without a permit.
- Police received a neighbor complaint Wednesday in the 100 block of Grant Street. According to police, a female was observed blowing leaves across the street and onto the edge of her neighbor’s yard. Contact was made and she said she didn’t have any trees in her yard so she was blowing leaves back across the street. Police advised that the leafvac will remove the leaves, and no further action was necessary.
- Police received a report about an open door Wednesday at Frank’s Pizza. While en route, Clearfield County Dispatch advised officers could cancel because everything was OK; police continued to the scene and confirmed cleaning personnel left the door open because it was hot inside. No further action was necessary.
