On Monday, Oct. 28, volunteers met at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in order to pack 845 Blizzard Boxes for elders to use when weather related cancellation of home delivered meals occurs.
In addition to the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging staff, volunteers representing Priority First Bank, CBT Bank and volunteers from the Clearfield Volunteer Center in conjunction with staff representatives from the Wal-Mart Distribution Center, packed 845 boxes in about four hours.
Each Blizzard Box contains three shelf stable meal replacements, and are paid for by local donations from businesses, clubs and individuals.
Last winter, Blizzard Boxes were packed three different times due to the number of weather-related cancellations. Individuals are encouraged to use the Blizzard Boxes when delivery is unavailable.
