BURNSIDE TOWNSHIP – An early-morning fire has been ruled arson in Burnside Township, Clearfield County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Kathleen Watters, the fire broke out at 2:07 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment building on Stifflertown Road.
She said the two-story building, which was unoccupied and previously damaged by fire in 2015, was a total loss. The fire also damaged two neighboring residences.
Damage has been estimated at $50,000, Watters said, and no injuries were reported. PSP’s fire marshal unit was requested to assist the Cherry Tree Fire Department with the fire investigation.
Watters ruled the fire as an arson, noting the building didn’t have any active utilities. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Punxsutawney at 814-938-0510.
