State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report about an assault that occurred Sept. 19 on Curtain Street in Osceola Mills Borough. During the incident, 21-year-old Randy Potter of Osceola Mills allegedly punched a 78-year-old Philipsburg man twice in his face and head area, causing injury that required medical attention. State police say Potter also threatened to kill the man, then fled the scene. A warrant has been issued for Potter’s arrest on the charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact state police at 814-857-3800.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police received a report about an assault that occurred Sept. 16 on Punkin Ridge Road in Chest Township, Clearfield County. According to state police, a woman and two men, all from Westover, were involved in an altercation. All three will face charges for simple assault and harassment.
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred Friday on Harkleroad Road in Bell Township, Clearfield County. During the incident, state police say a 56-year-old Mahaffey man provided $650 worth of Amazon gift cards to an unknown person. The suspect is unknown at this time.
Clearfield Borough
- Police received a report of harassment on Nichols Street.
- Police received a report about a break-in that occurred along Williams Street. During the incident, someone allegedly entered an apartment and removed items. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- Police responded to a reported mental health incident on Daisy Street. Upon arrival on-scene, contact was made with a male who agreed to have emergency personnel transport him for an evaluation.
- Police assisted a motorist who had locked their keys inside their vehicle along River Road.
- Police received a report about a female lying in a parking lot on East Pine Street. Upon arrival on-scene, police found she had several warrants through the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. When they attempted to take her into custody, police say she resisted; then, when she was in custody, the female claimed to have a medical emergency. She was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment. Police were assisted by Clearfield Emergency Medical Services and Lawrence Township police.
- Police received a report about a mental health patient who had fled from the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital. While en route to the scene, police were cancelled, because the patient had returned on their own.
- Police received a report about a female who was loitering after-hours on East Market Street. Police located the female, advised her of the complaint and she agreed to move along.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with a motor vehicle collision along River Road.
- Police received a report that syringes had been located along North Fourth Street. Upon arrival in the area, police located and collected the syringes.
- Police received a report about kids riding their bikes recklessly without adult supervision on Clearfield Street. Upon arrival in the area, police didn’t observe any violations.
- Police responded to a traffic hazard along Turnpike Avenue, where a large tree had fallen and was blocking the roadway. The Clearfield Fire Department also arrived and assisted with removal of the tree.
- Police responded to a reported minor crash along North Third Street. According to police, a vehicle backed into a parked vehicle, causing minor damage.
- Police arrested a female along Daisy Street because she had an active warrant. She was subsequently transported to the jail on the warrant.
- Police are investigating a reported retail theft that occurred at an East Market Street business.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about a 32-year-old LeContes Mills man who was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle Sunday in the drive-through at McDonald’s, located off Interstate 80, in Clearfield. Upon arrival on-scene, contact was made and officers found the man was under the influence of alcohol to the degree he was incapable of safely operating a vehicle. He was subsequently transported to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for a legal blood draw, then housed in county jail to become sober. Charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police responded to a report of a vehicle-versus-bicycle crash Friday on Turnpike Avenue in Clearfield. According to police, a bicyclist rode off the hill and into the path of a vehicle. Minor injuries occurred as a result of the crash.
DuBois City
- While on routine patrol Sept. 18, police observed a male driver who was known to have an active state parole warrant and a suspended license. According to police, contact was subsequently made with the male – identified as Storm Armagost – and he was taken into custody. Officers transported Armagost to the police station to await the arrival of parole agents. Armagost was also cited for driving under suspension.
- State parole agents were assisted with a warrant service on Sept. 18.
- Police were flagged down on Robinson Street on Sept. 18 regarding a female having a medical emergency. Emergency personnel had already been contacted, and police remained on-scene until their arrival.
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run crash Sept. 18 on Liberty Boulevard. According to police, a tractor-trailer struck a vehicle while trying to merge into its lane. The driver pulled into a parking lot and tried to wave for the tractor-trailer driver to stop. However, they fled the scene. Police were able to identify the trucking company and track down the driver. No injuries and minor damage were reported to police. The tractor-trailer driver will be cited for the crash.
- Police received a report about two children soliciting for money Sept. 18 at the intersection of North Jared Street and West Scribner Avenue. Upon arrival on-scene, police found a nine-year-old and a six-year-old holding a sign reading: “we need money.” Police learned the children were trying to collect money for a new house. Upon further investigation, the male adult who was responsible for the children was found asleep inside their residence. Because the oldest child was unable to wake him, police went to check on his welfare. When he opened the door, police allegedly detected a strong odor of alcohol. Police subsequently contacted the children’s mother and advised her of the male’s condition and that it wasn’t safe for the children to be there. Police say she arranged for a friend to pick up and care for the children until she could come home.
- While on routine patrol late Friday night, police observed a female outside of a Liberty Boulevard business that was closed. According to police, contact was made and the female said she’d been thrown out of her hotel. She said she was there waiting for her ride to pick her up. Police subsequently cleared the scene.
- Police received a report about a male who was knocking on his neighbor’s wall Saturday in the 300 block of West Long Avenue. Upon arrival on-scene, contact was made with both parties, and it was agreed that they would leave each other alone.
- Police received a report about a domestic dispute Saturday in the 800 block of West Long Avenue. Upon arrival on-scene, contact was made with both parties, and they agreed to leave each other alone.
- Police received a report about a male yelling at everyone inside a Grove Place residence on Saturday. Upon arrival on-scene, the male was seen leaving, contact was made and everything was found to be OK.
- Police received a report about a male who was yelling outside Sunday in the 100 block of West Long Avenue. Upon arrival on-scene, contact was made and it was found the male was just talking very loudly. Police subsequently cleared the scene.
