CLEARFIELD – A wanted Clearfield male was jailed last week after he allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted a local police officer.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:59 p.m. Aug. 29 at a Hill Street residence in Clearfield, according to a news release issued by Lawrence Township police.
Police were requested to assist Clearfield Borough officers with a wanted male who had fled on foot to avoid being taken into custody on a warrant through the county’s Sheriff’s Office.
During the incident, the male who was identified as Walter P. Wilsoncroft of Clearfield allegedly resisted and fought with a borough officer.
“He created a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury to the officer,” township police say. Wilsoncroft was eventually taken into custody and housed in county jail on the warrant.
Wilsoncroft is facing new charges, which include aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and related offenses.
