CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Council held a short meeting Thursday night, confirming motions from the committees, opening bids and hearing a presentation from a newly-minted Eagle Scout.
Mayor James Schell introduced Jeremiah Vezza, who recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Vezza explained that he saw a need for seating for the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School cross-country track team.
He designed and constructed eight benches that can be folded into four picnic tables. The benches can also easily be moved to the baseball field or wherever they may be needed.
Council opened bids for a paving project on a short portion of Spruce Street. The lowest bid came from New Enterprise Stone and Lime at $48,337.08, which was accepted pending engineer review.
Some of the items approved from last week’s committee meeting included awarding Fourth and Market streets culvert project to R. Taylor Contracting of Goshen.
Under personnel, council accepted the resignation for retirement of Assistant Police Chief Greg Neeper as of June 3, and the resignation of Heather Bozovich from council as of May 31.
Bozovich serves the second ward and letters of interest for the vacant seat are being accepted by council.
