CLEARFIELD – An Irvona man has been accused of selling methamphetamine to an undercover state trooper.
Allen Scott Hockenberry, 20, was originally charged by the Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, with a felony count each of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and criminal use of a communication facility; a misdemeanor count each of intentional possession of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children, plus two summaries.
Hockenberry waived his right to a preliminary hearing on the majority of the charges Wednesday during centralized court. However, the charge for endangering the welfare of children was withdrawn. His bail is currently set at $100,000 monetary.
The charges stem from when Hockenberry allegedly sold approximately 1.75 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover PSP trooper for $160 in the parking lot of GIO’s BBQ of Woodland on Sept. 4, 2018.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the drug deal was arranged earlier in the day with Hockenberry via Facebook Messenger. The trooper saw Hockenberry pull into GIO’s; with him in his vehicle were his girlfriend, Heidi Ann Read, and a small child in the backseat.
Hockenberry pumped gas and entered the store; when he returned, he parked his vehicle at the very rear of the lot. The trooper then moved and parked next to Hockenberry’s vehicle.
From his vehicle, the trooper reportedly watched Read package and weigh the methamphetamine. She obtained the drug from a larger plastic bag.
She handed the packaged methamphetamine to Hockenberry, who allegedly completed the transaction through the trooper’s window. Later it was NIK-tested and showed positive for methamphetamine.
Read, 24, of Clearfield is facing similar charges and is still awaiting her preliminary hearing.
