CLEARFIELD – Following a 45-minute executive session for “contractual purposes” Monday night, the Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors approved a $2,200 increase for its 12-member administration.
The board approved the increase by a 6-2 vote. Board members David Glass, Larry Putt, Tim Morgan, Susan Mikesell, Mary Anne Jackson and Phil Carr were all in favor of the same.
However, board members Richard D. Schickling and Dr. Michael Spencer voted against the increase.
Board member Jennifer Wallace abstained from the vote, as her husband currently serves as the high school principal.
Glass indicated that it would be a one-year contract for the district’s staff of directors and both its principals and assistant principals.
In addition, he explained that these personnel will now be responsible for a segment of their health care costs. He said that those costs will be $40 per month for a single individual, $60 for a couple per month and $80 per month for a family.
Schickling said that he didn’t agree with the amount of the increase. He believed that it was too high. Spencer declined to comment on the reason for his vote.
